Paul & Nancita discuss the future Thistle Acres

Although this photo was taken some time ago, it is believed that, during the downing of the above fruit drinks, the idea for Thistle Acres was born!

Paul & Nancy were just resting up from measuring, and then cutting to exact length, every blade of grass on the immaculate "Manicured Acres".

Paul mentors Ron in smoke/grilling

Well, young feller, you put the meat on like this here, and then you- oh, yes, you do need to have hot coals first, good question!
Next, you move the meat to the back of the grill...
What? Oh, yes, another good question- you DO need to use meat, not bean sprouts or tofu...

Then, you close down the draft- what? Oh- yes, you SHOULD always ask your wife permission first- and then...

BigBandPhil and Milky sing for Holly!

Holly is here being congratulated by her grandparents, "Big Band" Phil and his FIRST wife, Milky/Carolyn Bowers!
I hope to record BBnd and Milky this weekend in Chicago in performance- if I do, I will upload it via youtube to... THIS AMAZING BLOG!! YES YES YES!!

It was a great party, on May 26, 2007- many, many Bowerses and friends of Moos Road were there, and a gala time was had by all...

Including:
1. Admiring Jay's square foot garden!
2. Listening to BBPhil and Milky sing a song for Holly next to the tent
3.Eating "Pauled Pork", grilled on the smoker by... PAUL!
4. Jeep rides in the CJ5!
5. Seeing all the friends and neighbors in their "native habitat", eating and drinking in a tent in the yard.

I felt particularly pleased to have plucked the indigenous "Wendtland Road" natives from their own sad, third-world environs, and enabled them to have a cultured afternoon on Moos Road, eating cooked food!, and learning, like Eliza Doolittle did, to eat with utensils!

The highlight, though, was when we all sang:

"Coulee folks should stick together, Coulee folks should all be pals!
Wendland dance with the Moos Road daughters,
Moos Road dance with the Wentlundt gals!!"

It's great when folks can all get along!

Square foot gardening baby garden!!

Here is a photo of my BABY square foot garden! Baby, as in small...

I love my baby.

No weeds, perfectly spaced, perfectly hydrated (note watering can to right), and vertically inclined for the future:
this is one happy vegetable garden! (OK, there are a few flowers!)

Get the book Square Foot Gardening by Mel Bartholemew.

You will NEVER go back to single row gardens!!

Next time- My 8X4 foot square garden- in my OLD, giant, single row garden space!!

The rest is all just sprawling raspberry bushes now... (my favorite!!)

Be square,
Jay

Strange alien brothers redux...

I know, I know... you've already SEEN this photo! But, since no one commented on it, I have to give you my take; left to right: "Do the Hippy Shake!(!Ron!), 1st puppet (Jeff), Jay's right hand in his left pocket as he makes him talk, Jay, aka "little boy bluejay", Rah, (Jay's left hand is in his back, controlling his every move)...Jimmy (being controlled by Rah, and Jay is controlling Rah...and, finally, "thumbs" Danny "horner", who has just left his corner, and pulled out a plumb (from BOTH pockets!!)...

After this photo shoot, I found dozens of plums in the truck bed, and also numerous teenage girls, who were screaming frantically about "that lad doing the 'Hippy hippy shake'!!

There was also some mention, from their parents, about Radon testing availability...

Grad tent and grad listen to grand peres

Graduate enjoys her special tent, and the people who came with it, as her grandparents read her the riot act about what they expect after graduation:

"And furthermore, after walking uphill both ways to our 14 hour per day jobs in the asbestos plant, we always came home and read our grandparents to bed, and then harvested the tobacco crop, rolled it, and sold it to minors that same night!"

Two Bowers- two beers- one truck!

"Now Jay, if you were to go to that truck, open that red cooler,
and get me another beer, well,
uh.. well, maybe I'd let you wear this sharp, plaid shirt!

MAYBE, I said!"

No camera- no problem!

CHEESE!!

The Bowers Boys were recently cornered at the corner of Jay's truck and filmed. I think their stances tell you volumes about each one...
Further comments are unnecessary- just look at each boy, in turn, and write me your take on their poses. I await your insights!

The Bowers Camera has died- on the day of Holly's graduation!!
Thanks to the Loney's and Lauren Tucker, whose cameras did NOT die, (and whose generous impulses to donate their images and/or cameras kept the Bowers family photo album alive), there ARE photos to include herein...

And another camera, a Canon sd 1000 is already ordered, and enroute, hopefully. More on this, and that, too, shortly.
Jay

Little Boy Blue has daughter graduate High School!

In a surprise move, Jay "Lil' Blue Boy" has had a daughter that actually graduated from high school!!

"Lil' Blue Jay", infamous aged rapper, has surprised the public before...

"Yo! They all think 'cause I be OLD,
that I not be bold,
and for that I scold
for it be really cold
when you bein' told
yo' daughter don't deserve no scroll...

You know what I talkin' about??"

The above was stated by aforesaid "Lil' Blue Jay" when asked about his daughter's graduation, cum laude, from the prestigious Holmen High School academy, where she was active in Show Choir, Orchestra, and lots of other high-toned endeavors.

Lil' Jay became violent when asked further questions...
